SOME FAVORITE QUOTES

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace."

THE FIVE FINGER PRAYER

1. Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C.S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all. Which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord.
--Hosea 6:3

And, as the path of duty is made plain,
May grace be given that I may walk therein,
Not like the hireling, for his selfish fain,
With backward glances and reluctant tread,
Making a merit of his coward dread,
But, cheerful, in the light around me thrown,
Walking as one to pleasant service led;
Doing God's will as if it were my own,
Yet trusting not in mine, but in His strength alone!

John Greenleaf Whittier

He leadeth me.
--Psalm 23:2

In "pastures green"? Not always;
Sometimes He Who knoweth best,
in kindness leadeth me in weary ways,
where heavy shadows be.
So, whether on the hilltops high and fair I dwell,
or in the sunless valleys, where the shadows lie, what matter?
He is there.

Henry H. Barry

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth: keep the door of my lips.
--Psalm 141:3
What! never speak one evil word,
Or rash, or idle, or unkind!
Oh, how shall I, most gracious Lord,
This mark of true perfection find?
Charles Wesley
He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
--Psalm 23:2-3
He leads me where the waters glide,
The waters soft and still,
And homeward He will gently glide
My wandering heart and will.
Hohn Keble
PSALM 23
The LORD is my Shepherd
THAT'S RELATIONSHIP!
I shall not want
THAT'S SUPPLY!
HE maketh to me lie down in green pastures
THAT'S REST!
HE leadeth me beside still waters
THAT'S REFRESHMENT!
HE restoreth my soul
THAT'S HEALING!
HE leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
THAT'S GUIDANCE!
For HIS name sake
THAT'S PURPOSE!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
THAT'S CHALLENGE!
I will fear no evil
THAT'S ASSURANCE!
For THOU are with me
THAT'S FAITHFULNESS!
THY rod and THY staff they comfort me
THAT'S SHELTER!
THOU preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies
THAT'S HOPE!
THOU anointest my head with oil
THAT'S CONSECRATION!
My cup runneth over
THAT'S ABUNDANCE!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
THAT'S BLESSING!
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
THAT'S SECURITY!
Forever
THAT'S ETERNITY!
SOMEONE WROTE THE FOLLOWING THOUGHTS REGARDING THE TRAGEDY OF SEPT. 11, '01 AND I THINK IT IS WORTH SHARING:
WHERE GOD WAS ON SEPT. 11, 2001
After the terrorist attack on America some ppl. might have questioned,
"Where was God?"
I know where my God was the morning of September 11, 2001! He was very busy.
First of all, he was trying to discourage anyone from taking this flight. Those four flights together held over 1000 passengers and there was only 266 aboard.
He was on 4 commercial flights giving terrified passengers the ability to stay calm. Not one of the family members who was called by a loved one on one of the high-jacked planes said that passengers were screaming in the background.
On one of the flights he was giving strength to passengers to try to overtake the high-jackers.
He was busy trying to create obstacles for employees at the World Trade Center. After all only around 20,000 were at the towers when the first jet hit. Since the buildings hold over 50,000 workers, this was a miracle in itself. How many of the people who were employed at the WTC told the media that they were late for work or they had traffic delays.
He was holding up 2-110 story buildings so that 2/3 of the workers could get out. I was so amazed that the top of the towers didn't topple when the jets impacted.
Although this is without a doubt the worst thing I have seen in my life, I can see God's miracles in every bit of it. I can't imagine going through such a difficult time and not believing in God. Life would be hopeless.
MAY GOD BE WITH AND CONTINUE TO BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
THINGS I LOVE
I LOVE GOD AND JESUS CHRIST! I seek to grow daily in the Lord! There is so much to learn! IF we ever find that we are the VERY SAME person inwardly that we were a year ago, when we are trying to grow closer to the Lord, then something is wrong. As we grow from being a "baby" Christian into becoming a more mature Christian, we will see a change in ourself, for the better.
"ASK AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU; SEEK AND YOU WILL FIND; KNOCK AND THE DOOR WILL BE OPENED TO YOU." MATTHEW 7:7 ~ NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION ~
The LORD GOD is such a good FATHER! If only everyone wanted to know Him and be His child ~ what a wonderful Earthly world we would have! I really enjoy my daily "quiet" time with God; in reading His word & listening to what He tells me.
I also have enjoyed my 1986 black Dodge 600 Turbo engine convertible for many years, which I bought new and have kept in mint condition, but felt I had outgrown it, so I decided to give it to my son for his birthday in June 2001. My new love is the black 2001 Grand Laredo Cherokee Jeep, which I just bought on April 24th, 2001. I didn't even know I wanted it until I saw it and on the 3rd day of looking at it, drove it home. It has dark grey leather interior, a sun roof and loaded with lots of other gagets - "buttons and bells." Other things I love is going to the beaches, boating, movies, traveling & sleeping late ZZZZZZZzzzzz! (Did someone say "Wake up???") Oh, OK...sorry about that! LOL
WHAT I LOOK FOR IN OTHER PEOPLE
I respect people who love the Lord, who are honest, sincere, truthful, caring & considerate of others; those who are not just takers, but cheerful givers!
Hi, my name is Judy ~ also known as
I was born in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, my country that I love dearly, on a Sunday, Nov. 20th!
I'm married to my BEST FRIEND
KIRK
We live in the city surrounded by God's protective mountains, known as
ROANOKE.
The land is beautiful here with the air fresh and wonderful, as our huge man-made star overlooks the Roanoke Valley, atop Mill Mountain; hence the name ~
"THE MILL MOUNTAIN STAR."
Roanoke is also known as "The Star City Of The South," due to The Mill Mountain Star. Kirk and I were married in an outdoor ceremony overlooking the Roanoke Valley, beneath the Mill Mountain Star at 11AM on Aug. 2, 1980. It was truly the most beautiful day.
Below is a picture of two of my favorite people on this earth, taken on May 13, 2001 which was Mother's Day, as follows:
MY DAD AND MY MOTHER
I admire my
PARENTS
so much and appreciate them having always "been there" for me, regardless of my many different situations, throughout life. The clickable photo above was taken on their 55th wedding anniversary, which was June 8th, 2001! I feel so rich to have such wonderful parents & thank God for them!!!
I love serving THE LORD MY GOD and presently serve Him in a small Church in the country known as
MOUNT PLEASANT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.
I believe that every denomination who believes in God, The Lord Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit shall be saved, and will live together in Heaven one day as ONE Christian church.
I have been a hair stylist since graduating Cosmetology school in June of 1975 (I just keep practicing & trying hard to get it right ~ tee-hee). My salon is a LOCKS OF LOVE donor salon! If you would like to donate 10+ inches of your hair, to help make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to long term medical conditions, please click on the site above. Then click on "Where To Cut It" and scroll down and click on the letter of your state, to find participating salons in your area. Many salons like mine will give free haircuts to people who are willing to donate their hair to this wonderful and worthy cause. May God bless the ones who donate to the children! I love doing things for others ('tis truly better to give than to receive).
On Dec. 21st, 2000, I was diagnoised with breast cancer. Early detection is so very important. IF this disease is of any interest to you or someone you know, please see my new page #1, still in progress, near the bottom of my home page: "ABOUT BREAST CANCER - MY EXPERIENCE." I hope I can be of help to many others. There is truly nothing to fear but fear itself! Keep the faith and focus on God for help! It really does work! He is not just Lord of some things, but of EVERYTHING!!!
GIRLFRIENDS
Young and newly married, I relaxed under a pecan tree on a hot Texas summer day, drinking iced tea and getting to know my new sister-in-law.
Not much older than I, but already the mother of three, she seemed to be experienced and wise. "Get yourself some girlfriends, she advised, clinking the ice cubes in her glass. "You are going to need girlfriends. Go places with them; do things with them."
What a funny piece of advice, I thought. Hadn't I just gotten married? Hadn't I just joined the couple-world? I was a married woman, for goodness sake, not a young girl who needed girlfriends. But I listened to this new sister-in-law. I got myself some girlfriends. As the years tumbled by, one after another, gradually I came to understand that Estelle knew what she was talking about. I remembered that she had said the word "girlfriends" with emphasis.
As I went along, I discovered the subtle difference between friends and girlfriends.
You go to work with friends, go to dinner with friends, go to church with friends, belong to clubs with friends. You send friends greeting cards. You need friends in your life; all girlfriends were once only friends.
But a girlfriend is different. A girlfriend is not "just like a sister." Sisters have a distinct bond, sometimes good, sometimes bad. Sisters flow from family attachment; girlfriends choose each other. A sister also can be a girlfriend.
As a thank-you to my sister-in-law and to the other girlfriends in my life, I offer this praise of girlfriends.
HERE IS WHAT I KNOW ABOUT GIRLFRIENDS
Girlfriends don't compete.
Girlfriends bring casseroles and scrub your bathroom when you are sick.
Girlfriends keep your children; KEEP YOUR SECRETS!
Girlfriends give advice when you ask for it. Sometimes you take it; sometimes you don't.
Girlfriends don't always tell you that you are right.
Girlfriends laugh with you and you don't need jokes to start the laughter.
Girlfriends don't yammer about you behind your back.
Girlfriends pull you out of jams.
Girlfriends don't keep a calendar that lets them know who hosted the other last.
Girlfriends will give a party for your son or daughter when they get married or have a baby.
And girlfriends are there for you, in an instant and truly, when the hard times come.
Girlfriends listen when you lose a job or a husband.
Girlfriends listen when your children break your heart.
Girlfriends listen when your parents' minds and bodies fail.
My girlfriends ENHANCE my life. Once we were young, with no idea of the incredible joys or the incredible sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we could need each other.
I want to tell younger women to take my sister-in-law's advice. Get yourself some girlfriends. You're going to need them, as they will need you!
BELOW IS A PICTURE OF MY LIFELONG GIRLFRIEND, CONNIE, AND MYSELF, TAKEN IN NOV. 2001. WE MET WHEN CONNIE WAS 2 YEARS OLD AND I WAS 3 YEARS OLD. GOD GIVES SUCH "GOOD" GIFTS!
FOREVER FRIENDS
I want to especially thank my friend
OUR TWO PRECIOUS PETS
ON JAN. 3, 1999, I BECAME THE PROUD NEW ADOPTIVE MOMMIE OF A 2 AND A HALF MONTH OLD WHITE AMERICAN SPITZ NAMED
FROSTI LEE.
Click on his name above to see photos of him. It was LOVE at first site, and HE adopted US right away.
Then on Sept. 5, '00, God gave us a wonderful gift, in which we adopted our precious "big" beautiful girl,
NIKKI LYNN
Click on her name above to see photos of her. She has a coat of solid white and she weighs 46 pounds. The vet. seems to think she is a Spitz/Norwegian Elkhound about 3 years old. We were so lucky to have found her at the
ROANOKE VALLEY SPCA
IN MEMORY OF OUR TWO FORMER LOVES WHO ARE NOW IN HEAVEN
We lost 2 loves - 1 year and 3 months apart; losing our 1st love
(MITZI)
our Alaskan Eskimo Spitz, who went to Heaven on May 1,'97, but waited until Kirk was home from work, before dying of old age in his arms within 5 minutes of him picking her up and gently rocking her in his arms, after living 15 and a half years; - how I wish I had been home from work also, to bid my sweet love "farewell" for now, for she was one of the most precious ever - so good in all ways,
& losing our last love
(FRITZI)
our American Spitz, who went to Heaven on Aug. 7, '98, after living 12 and a half years and fighting a losing battle with auto immune disease, such a good protector but so helpless of that disease in the end.
Although gone from this Earth, they will NEVER be forgotten! We will LOVE you both throughout eternity!
